  1. How did you ever manage to limit yourself to just one favorite book a year? I find that really hard to do. I really love Middlemarch. And I’m a fan of Darcy Coates’ ghost stories, as you know, so those are the two books on your list that I totally agree with. ;D

    1. Hi Lark, I went back to my reviews from 2015 to 2025 and in the beginning years I reviewed about 25 books a year so it was not too difficult to pick out my overall favorites but I did have to prune the list down to come up with 15. Midlemarch in particular is a book I want to read again. I feel in a second reading I will learn so much more.

  2. Fifteen favorites within a ten year period is a nice exercise. I like your list–Middlemarch is a favorite, as is Jane Eyre. I really liked Frankenstein but don’t see myself rereading it. I also really liked Belinda, which sort of surprised me, and it has been decades since I read it.

I really do need to read The Good Earth and Things Fall Apart.

I went through a Jack London phase (after he visited the remains of Wolf House in Northern CA thirty years ago, and Call of the Wild is the best. I loved the episode of Northern Exposure when Chris read it aloud over a story featuring Holling and Maurice…but I digress.

    Excellent list!

    1. Thanks Jane and I can heartily recommend every book on the list. Two books I read prior to 2015 that were definitely all time favorites Crime and Punishment and Pride and Prejudice.

  3. Kathy, I have missed so many of your latest posts, I haven’t felt well but that isn’t a good excuse… I love this list of favorite books in the last 10 years. That is a great idea. Three of those books (Jane Eyre, Frankenstein, and Middlemarch) are on my list to read this summer. I have read a couple of other books on the list and I will check out some more of them.
