My Top Ten Books Read In 2025

I know it’s a bit early to be listing the top ten books I read in 2025. But Thanksgiving is tomorrow and books have always been something I am very thankful for and so I wanted to share the joy. I read 60 books this year and here in no particular order are my 10 favorites:

Battle Cry of Freedom by James M. McPherson –

A Place of Greater Safety by Hilary Mantel

Stranger Diaries by Elly Griffiths

Moonflower Murders by Anthony Horowitz

The Shell House Detectives by Emylia Hall

Homer’s The Iliad

The Shining by Stephen King

Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice For Muderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto

Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi

The Sky Unwashed by Irene Zabytko

Wishing Everyone A Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. Hi Kathy, I just saw that you had started this new blog. Your top ten books for 2025 is a nice list. I liked the books in your list by Anthony Horowitz, Elly Griffiths, and Jesse Sutanto when I read them. I will look into some of the other books you mentioned.

We had a good thanksgiving and I hope you did too.

    1. Thanks Tracy and glad to hear from you and glad to know you had a good Thanksgiving. Mysteries are my favorite genre and Sutanto, Horowitz and Griffiths are first rate. I read 60 books this year and these 10 are really worth checking out.
